● Why do we need to replace glasses?

1. Pathological myopia
Myopia of more than 600 degrees is high myopia, which is divided into two categories:
① Simple high myopia: It can be stable after a certain period of development, and there is no serious change in the eye.
② Pathological myopia: It is a type of blinding eye disease that is different from simple high myopia, with abnormal extension of the eye axis, continuous deepening of myopia, and a rapid increase rate, and is often accompanied by complications such as cataracts, glaucoma, choroidal degeneration, and retinal detachment.
Pathological myopia is mainly caused by genetic factors. If there is high myopia in parents or family members, fundus and optometry examinations should be performed regularly.
2. Wearing inappropriate glasses
If the degree of glasses is too high, dizziness will occur. If the degree of glasses is insufficient, it is equivalent to looking at distant objects, the focus of the image still falls in front of the retina, and in a relaxed state, distant objects cannot be seen clearly.
At this time, the ciliary muscle responsible for adjusting the focal length will be over-adjusted and continue to spasm, which will easily fatigue over a long period of time and aggravate myopia.
● How often do children need to change their glasses?
Children and adolescents are in the growth and development stage, which is the peak period of eye use, and the degree changes very quickly. Due to long-term close-up use of eyes, myopia is easy to deepen. Children and adolescents are recommended to take their children for an eye examination regularly. If the degree of glasses changes, or the degree increases too fast, it is necessary to replace the glasses in time and intervene.
● How often do adults need to change their glasses?
Since the degree of adults is relatively stable, their frequency and initiative of eye examination are far less than that of children and adolescents, so that some adults are too lazy to do eye examinations, just according to the original degree of glasses or directly match glasses at will. These are all incorrect practices. Adults should change their glasses once a year to a year and a half, and they need to have their eyes re-checked.
● How often do the elderly need to change their glasses?
For the sake of saving, many elderly people wear reading glasses for several years or even more than ten years. Although there is no unified time regulation for the replacement of reading glasses, once the elderly feel strenuous to read newspapers with glasses and their eyes are sore and uncomfortable, they should consider whether the glasses are not suitable and need to be replaced with new glasses.
