There are actually many different optical lenses in the eye, including the cornea, aqueous humor, lens, and vitreous body. They can all deflect the light entering the eye.
Their combined effect can bring together the light entering the eye, forming a focus on the retina, and the eye can see.
Any abnormality in any of these four parts may cause the visual effect of the eyes. Among them, the cornea and lens have the greatest impact on the refractive power of the eyes.
The cornea is the transparent tissue at the front of the eye, which looks like a contact lens. Covering the iris (commonly known as the black eye), the cornea provides most of the eye's refractive power.
① Eye trauma: After eye trauma causes damage to the cornea, if it spreads to the pupil area, it will lead to vision loss. If the damage is serious, corneal transplantation may be required.
② Ultraviolet rays: Acute exposure to UVB and UVC can cause painful superficial keratopathy in the cornea, called photokeratitis.
③Unhealthy contact lens wearing methods: can lead to corneal infection and keratitis.
Lens:
The lens in the eye can automatically adjust its thickness to help the eye see objects at different distances clearly. This ability is called accommodation.
When looking at a distance (5m), the lens does not change at all, that is, it does not adjust. When looking at a close distance, the lens will automatically become convex (thickened), and you need to adjust it until you can see the object clearly.
Factors affecting lens health:
①Age: As age increases, the transparency of the lens gradually decreases and becomes opaque, which is one of the causes of senile cataracts.
② Ultraviolet rays: Long-term and chronic ultraviolet rays are considered to be an important cause of senile cataracts.
③ Eye trauma, poisoning, systemic diseases, smoking and genetics may also cause lens opacity and form cataracts.
